Everyone knows I'm a huge fan of the original Gears so I guess it's no surprise that I LOVE the second one. I'm not sure how far into the campaign I am and I've only had a chance to play execution mode in multiplayer so far.
I've heard that "horde" mode is awesome. Anyone game to give it a try sometime this weekend?
The Fiance and I have been playing non stop last night and this morning on co-op and we're just about complete the entire game! I started off after the midnight launch on multiplayer and was impressed by some of the new additions and little set back by how easy it seemed you died and how cover doesn't work as well as the first. The campaign so far? Outstanding, there are so many sweet moments of destructions, monsters, cool weapons and just really amazing gameplay. We will release a full review upon completion. If you're a fan of the original game, you should have the sequel...and be playing it now. I am definitely up for some horde action this weekend.
Harder to take cover than the first game? please expain what you mean by this. As for the part about dying all the time. It's not the game, you just suck at it. :)
I mean when you take cover, you come out of cover easier then in the first. As in too many people complained that you "stick to everything" and now you stick to nothing. It's quite frustrating, but i can get used to it. They made the shot gun and pistols less powerful, but it seems the lancer is more powerful, therefore in multiplayer when everyone is using the lancer, it seems you have less ability to evade and instead you're downed after 4 or 5 shots.
I'm loving it so far....the story is equaling Force Unleashed in entertainment. I've yet to notice the problems that
Dedbeat is takling about with the magnetic walls. One thing I'm missing is I've yet to have a chainsaw duel. I'm deffinatly liking the variety of enviroments. I mean come on...in the belly of a giant worm? that just screans awesome. The fact that you get to fight some brumacks this time also makes me happy....I was a little disapointed in having to run away from the one in Gears 1. So far I'm liking it. Oh and as I side note...I found a Lancer Replica on Ebay for dramatically less than what they normally cost...and i will be owning it soon :P
Gears of War 2 is absolutely amazing. Our team got invited to the Canadian launch party in downtown Toronto - it was awesome! Microsoft rented out a whole subway platform, set-up about 25 HDTVs and invited media and enthusiastic gamers out for a night of food, drinks and gaming. They even gave out free copies of the game + Gears of War 2 t-shirts. All in all, an amazing event. I had a chance to play the single player campaign and the co-op mode where you fight rounds of locust. Overall, the graphics looked crisp and the gameplay was pretty tight. I give this game my highest recommendations.
It is absolutely amazing, far better than the first IMO, but then again I was horrible at the first one...............lol. I find the MP a lot more fun, the story in campaign was way more engaging, a important part for me in most games. Horde is great fun, just like terrorist hunt but better. I still havent made it to the 50th wave yet, havent had that much time to commit to it all at once.
Anyone think they'll ever get Seriously 2.0? I dont think I'll ever get it, at least not before the 3rd installment comes out.
I am loving GoW 2! I am pleased with the fact that I no longer stick to everything (sorry Deadbeat) and love the chainsaw duels. Finally finished level 50 of Horde last night and looking forward some co-op campaign on insane...
I liked it better then the first. I love the upgrade to the graphics. I also like the story as there wasn't much of one in the first game. Online playing is good but I don't care much for the classic maps as much as I thought I would.
I am loving this game, I played a lot of the first one and this one better in so many ways. When it comes to multiplayer though I only play private matches with my friends so I have not experienced lagging or matchmaking issues that others have complained about.
There is also New Maps out, I haven't tried them out yet but my buddy says they are a lot of fun. Any one here play them yet?
Yeah I picked them up last night. I'm a huge Gears nut as well so I had to pick them up right away. It's called the combustible map pack for a reason, lots of stuff blowing up in these maps. I'd say if your a big Gears fan they're definitely worth the purchase.
I don't plan on getting the maps, at least not any time soon. I like the game but I hate the waiting for the game to load in multiplayer. These load times can be rather long.
